The Great Dorset Steam Fair

We set off after lunch and made our way down as Mike was expecting a few hold-ups due to the popularity of the Steam Fair.  In the end, we just sailed right in, a bit of of a queue for the ticket collection and on to pick our pitch.  The last time that we came we were camping so at least this time we will be more comfortable.

Carol & John, Jon & Dee are with us again and we set up our pitches trying to leave a gap for  John's new gazebo to put up so we could have a get together on the evening.   It was a tight fit but we got by.  At least we didn't have far to go to use the 'facilities'.
The next day, the steam fair was as it has been in previous times; a bit like a mechanical car-boot sale with entertainment laid on.  It's so full on that it's hard to remember what happened when.

The air for miles around was full of coal smoke, it took me back to my childhood !

We found this modern day 'Witches -Broomstick' which made us laugh - a broomstick connected to a strimmer petrol engine.  It must be better than the Hoover 'Beats as it sweeps'

Brookhouse Inn Castle Cary

Hello and what we can we do for you?

This was one of our first weekends away with Carol & John in their 'Burgervan'  The site was good at the rear of the pub but is prone to flooding at times

We went to a local fete on the Sunday and we won all sorts of prizes, Carol got an electric fly swatter and Mike got a bottle of 'Dab-it-off'' aftershave (Davidoff really) While he was wondering what it was, some woman came up offering to buy it off him. (he's still got some of it left - five years later!)
