Wrekin View CL, Shrewsbury

There's a short single track on approach to this CL but it's not too busy.  There is a misleading hump-back bridge over the A5 but with a railway bridge afterwards.  Take caution, not too fast as you may find your caravan contents re-arranged on arrival.
The site is lovely & well kept.  All vans in a row but giving a perfect view of the Wrekin.  We were given a info pack on arrival.  There is an outside but covered area for 'getting together'.  It also includes a TV but we didn't try this out.
Gated entrance which is also CCTV'd with an audible "Warning. You are being recorded"  It reminded me of Robby the Robot in "Outer Space" from the 60's / 70's.  The village close by but for food shopping, travel to Shrewsbury.  We favoured Morrison's as we don't have one near us in Salisbury.

Brian, the owner of the CL offered to get our newspaper on Easter Sunday. He is very personable & helpful and a vintage tractor enthusiast.

Shrewsbury is full of old buildings.  Make sure you walk off the main shopping areas to find  all the passages leading to areas not otherwise seen.  Look up, the buildings are old and amazing.

There is a cathedral & a university but Shrewsbury is not classified as a city due to the Catholicism of the cathedral.
Travel out and about and there are National Trust & English Heritage properties to see.  We have just become members of English Heritage again so we are are concentrating on them.  Two done on Monday - Boscobel House and the roman city at Wroxeter.

Wroxeter Roman town
Stokesay Castle

The new caravan is doing well but we are losing track of things as we can't remember where we've put them!  The caravan is the same length and layout as the old one but with different storage areas.  It's taking a while to suss out where to put things.  Mike has added a few things - cocktail cabinet holders, hooks and towel rail.  It really will be home from home.
Four English Heritage properties under our belts.
The park and ride into Shrewsbury is really good value for money -£ 2.50 return for both of us as a group of 2. I didn't .  I didn't get to climb the Wrekin but that can wait until the next time. I certainly would like to return here and can certainly recommend this CL.
Brian keeps the site really well and is available for any help or information but isn't 'in your face'  There is also a get together shed for groups staying here.  The only  drawback is parking under trees with the associated tree sap and bird crap

I saw these old sanitary towel burners in the market toilets.

Caravan Club site, Cirencester

This is our first trip in our new caravan so everything is new to us.  We chose this site as it's close to us and somewhere that we haven't been to before.  Also, it's not too far away from Swindon Caravans as when we picked the caravan up last Monday, the bunk bed cushions hadn't turned up.  So we're picking them up tomorrow morning.

Saturday lunchtime, we had walk into Cirencester via the park.  Had a quick look around then back to the caravan.  One problem that we found with the new caravan was that when you turn a tap off, the ceiling lights go off.  That's weird as Mike says that they're not on the same circuit only connected via the earth wiring.

That'll be good for sledging in winter!

We walked again into Cirencester in the evening.  Had a nice drink in the Bear then had a lovely dinner in the Fleece.  After all our walking, we couldn't face walking back to the caravan so jumped in a very convenient taxi.
