The Plough Inn CL nr Sturminster Newton

This is the first time that we've been here and Mike was really chuffed when he found that there was a real ale beer festival on at the same time!   We arrived to an empty field with a chicken pen on the left hand side.  It was good watching them, they had all the mod cons; shade and shelter from a parasol, their own scarecrow and loads of ground to feed from.  I wonder if there are eggs for sale.   We had an excellent meal in the pub with very good beer (so Mike & John informs me)

The next morning we have Carol & John around for breakfast so we can plan the days events.  We eventually decide on going to Shaftesbury and have a wander around the shops.

During the morning in Shaftesbury, we came across Gold Hill which is famous for being in the Hovis advert where the young lad was delivering the bread Click here to watch the ad
Cue the music to 'Jaws'

At the top of Gold Hill is King Alfred's Kitchens, where he had to stop for a massive cream tea and rest our feet.

In the afternoon, we found this shop and it was bric a brac type shop and was full of allsorts of curiosities.  John bought a large Titanic picture much to Carol's disgust.

Back at the pub, the beer festival was in full swing with the beer theme being colours.  The most unusual was Danish Dynamite which is green and brewed in Netheravon (not far from where we live) We had an early night that night as I wasn't feeling very well but Carol & John stayed on at the festival and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the live music.  During the night someone parked their car right next to our caravan and left the engine running.  We endured this for about 15 minutes until Mike snapped and barged out to tell the driver to turn the engine off.  Obviously they were planning on sleeping in the car.  They must have had a shock when Mike rapped on the drivers window, he only had his boxer shorts on!
