Postern Hill, Marlborough

 Thursday 4th September

Joined Carol & John to travel in convoy to Postern Hill in Savernake Forest.  This site is closing in October, which is such a shame.  Apparently, it isn't making money even though there always seems to be units on the site.  We were going to join Carol and John on the Friday but were able to go on the Thursday to make it a longer time away.  We have 2 other units joining us on Friday.

Chillaxing most of the time except for a longish walk Carol and I went on through Savernake Forest.  We found a few of the Mighty Oaks that have been named.  There is a trail to find 12 of them but it is 6 miles!

After dinner (we ate separately) we went across to C&J's caravan and had a game of Phase 10.  I thought the others would get bored but we all really enjoying it.  By the time we finished, John was about done in so we said our goodnights.

Friday 5th

Carol and I went to Tesco, just down the road, for the BBQ food for later in the day.  For a change, the roads in Marlborough were clear so it was plain sailing, as they say.  Josey & Bob arrived around lunch time and Maria & Adrian arrived after their work around 4.30 - and then the fun began.   We always have such a laugh when we get together!... and as usual there was far too much food.........and Carol made a Plum crumble which we had with ice cream. This year the fruit trees seem to be heavily laden and it is such a shame not to make use of them.

We took all the plates and BBQ grills to the washing-up area which had boiling hot water and was very clean.  We soon made short work of that.   As we left, a man came up to do some washing up and had his Marigolds with him.  When we were out of ear-shot (hopefully) Josey joked that maybe he was a serial killer and was wearing his Marigolds so as not to leave his DNA behind.  We had a snigger to that and Carol asked what we were laughing at.  When we told her she said she didn't like to think of such things, especially when in her caravan - well that was like a red rag to a bull.  When John went to bed (before Carol) we managed to give him a Marigold to put under Carol's pillow. Hehe Hehe. Mike got an accusatory text message around 10.45 - she always thinks it is him - hee-hee.

Saturday 6th

Maria and Adrian cooked bacon and sausage for breakfast butties although after so much yesterday we didn't really need anything, in fact Mike did abstain - too much plum crumble - his favourite.

Home earlyish as I was taking our granddaughter to the theatre.
